During a silent auction, the Andrew Weiss Gallery will exhibit original photographs of the legendary George Hurrell, C.S Bull and other photographers from the 30's and 40's, the Golden Era of Hollywood. George Hurrell was a master of portraiture, a master of light, often compared to Rembrandt in painting, except his art was created through the camera lens. As head of the MGM Portrait studio, he photographed the most luminous stars, including Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney and Hedy Lamarr..
